PROPER CLEANING OF GAS DETECTOR INSTRUMENT

PROPER CLEANING OF GAS DETECTOR INSTRUMENT

This guidance provides recommendations on the cleaning and disinfection of Gas Detector equipment. We recommend you use personal protective equipment (PPE) when operating and cleaning your instrument to help reduce risk of infection and contact with viruses.

Approved cleaning methods are as follows:

  • Instrument should be powered off when cleaning. Dampen a soft or disposable cloth and clean all organic material (visible soil or liquid) from the instrument prior to disinfection.
  • Using a plastics compatible mild cleaning agent, disinfectant, or antimicrobial agent, spray a soft or disposable cloth to wipe the instrument and all accessories. Follow the manufacturer's guidelines for use of the cleaning or disinfectant agents.
  • Allow the cleaning agent to stay on instrument per manufacturer time recommendations.
  • Dampen soft cloth with clean water and wipe down all surfaces to remove any excess solution.
  • Do not immerse or saturate the instrument with liquids to avoid damage to the electronics in the device.
  • Do not use alcohol-based solutions.
  • Do not use bleach solutions.
  • Do not spray cleaning agents into open ports or vents on the instrument.
