Battery Room / Data Centre Hydrogen Safety
Stationary batteries are essential for reliable power in many industries. Lead acid and Ni-Cad batteries generate hydrogen gas during use, especially when charging or under abnormal conditions which can result in explosions or fires if not controlled. Lithium-Ion batteries generally do not emit hydrogen, except during abnormal conditions such as thermal runaway events.
Industry best practices and standards have been established to mitigate explosion and fire risks associated with hydrogen gas generation in battery systems that involve early detection and controlled ventilation.
